Andrew Pecora, MD, FACP, CPE
Over the past 25 years, Dr. Pecora has transformed RCCA’s Hackensack division, John Theurer Cancer Center at Hackensack University Medical Center, into one of the nation’s top cancer centers, where he currently serves as Chief Innovations Officer and Vice President of Cancer Services.
Dr. Pecora is one of the world’s foremost experts in blood and marrow stem cell transplantation, cellular medicine, and immunology research. He has led award-winning research funded by the National Cancer Institute and the AHEPA Research Foundation. He is actively involved in clinical evaluation of novel noncytotoxic antineoplastic agents including cancer vaccines, replication competent viruses, and targeted therapies. He is also involved in laboratory and clinical development of engineered blood and marrow stem cell grafts for autologous and allogeneic transplantation, as well as cell therapy for regenerative medicine.
Dr. Pecora is a Professor of Medicine at University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ)–New Jersey Medical School. He received his medical degree from UMDNJ. He completed his residency at The New York Hospital in internal medicine and conducted his fellowship training at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in hematology/oncology.
Dr. Pecora’s awards and honors include America’s Top Doctors, Who’s Who in the World, ASCO Cancer Foundation Research Award, and the Gallo Award for outstanding cancer research activities.

Mark D. Schlesinger, M.D
Mark D. Schlesinger, M.D. is currently the Chairman of the Department of Anesthesiology at Hackensack University Medical Center in Hackensack, New Jersey. Dr. Schlesinger has served on several medical center committees including the Board of Governors, the Board of Trustees, and the Medical Board. Additionally, Dr. Schlesinger’s passion for philanthropy is demonstrated through his role as Chairman of Special Events for the Hackensack University Medical Center Foundation, and is instrumental in numerous fund-raising
Dr. Schlesinger graduated Magna Cum Laude from Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine and received his medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He completed his internship and residency at New York University Medical Center. He also completed fellowships at NYU Medical Center in cardiovascular anesthesia and intensive care medicine. Additionally, Dr. Schlesinger served as Chief Resident at NYU Medical Center from 1985 to 1986.
Dr. Schlesinger is certified by the National Board of Medical Examiners and the American Board of Anesthesiology. He has held appointments with the Bergen County Board of Trustees and the New Jersey Committee of Young Physicians and served as a delegate to the Medical Society of New Jersey. Dr. Schlesinger is a member of many professional societies including the American Medical Association, American Society of Anesthesiologists, International Anesthesia Research Society, New Jersey State Society of Anesthesiologists, and the New York State Society of Anesthesiologists.
Dr. Schlesinger is involved in several ongoing studies, which have been published in numerous medical journals. He has also delivered presentations and lectures nationally and internationally including the American Society of Anesthesiologists National Meeting, Critical Care Conferences, and Anesthesia Grand Rounds.
